"geegee and waterina" will trend set new gay theatrical productions at the artist playground...

It's been too many. Even band singer Nyoy Violante became a part of it by putting high heels and a female wig. Shades of La Cage Aux Folles (which was staged a few years back by Nine Works Theatrical)-, wherein gays were on the front lines- showing-off their flirty ways and funny antics.

What's new, we ask? The last one we saw- a Carlos Palanca-award winning play which was written by Mr. Sonny Valencia was a riot, too. It featured handsome (or pretty? Hehe...) performers of Philippine Stagers Foundation.

Again, we ask. What could be NEW this time around.

Then, all too suddenly, there's MUCH.

For one, it will be revealed here the GREAT MAKE-UP TRANSFORMATIONS of the 2 leading actors (or actresses? Hihihi...).

Almost like a 'Paolo Ballesteros' efect, isn't it.

And secondly, it will be directed by Andrew de Real, who's better-known as the brains behind the 'gay comedy skits invasion'- thru his deformed Library venue (a thing not well so forgotten).

And, with the great artistic minds of the people behind ARTIST PLAYGROUND, the material suits fit. Cinemalaya addicts could relate, too. 'Coz, yeah, the material came from a Short Film which was an entry at the said film fest- now having a new 'soul' in theater form.

But one thing we're sad about, is- the playdate's gonna be in August. So long to wait.

But so near to those who cherish the spirit of a true gay identity.

NEW OPM MUSICAL “GEEGEE AT WATERINA”
SET TO OPEN AUGUST 18

Artist Playground proudly announces the staging of
an original Pinoy musical “ GEEGEE AT WATERINA ”
in August 2018 at Arts Above, Artist Playground II,
112 West Venue Bldg., West Avenue, Quezon City

With original music composed by Jesse Lucas,
book and lyrics by J. Dennis C. Teodosio,
and choreography by Lezlie Dailisan,
GEEGEE AT WATERINA will be directed by Andrew de Real.

Roeder Camanag will play the role of Waterina
and Norman Penaflorida will play the role of Geegee.

GEEGEE is an entertainment actor, radio host and
a councilor of Pasay City. More than 60 years old.

WATERINA is a ‘comfort gay’ during the Japanese Occupation in the Philippines. More than 70 years old.
She is one of Gee-gee’s Golden Gays.

“ Geegee At Waterina ” was first presented at the
CCP Virgin Labfest in 2005.
A short film version was produced for Cinemalaya in 2006.
