MEET the cast and character of the "Marineros: Men in the Middle of the Sea".

Ano ang kaya mong isakripisyo para sa kinabukasan ng pamilya mo?

Abangan ang paglalayag ng Pamilya Marisol.

This coming September 20 in Cinemas Nationwide.

DENNIS MARISOL, late 50s
(Mar y Sol, meaning ‘sea and sun’ in Spanish)
(Deniz means ‘sea’ in Turkish)

DENNIS MARISOL (Michael De Mesa) is a Manila boy who settled in the province of Bohol where his wife Maria lives. He is a principled loving father and a provider. He loves his profession for it enables him to give a more convenient life for his wife and three children even if it means he misses most of special family occasions. Lightning does strike twice, sometimes. His wife Maria died while he is working away in a tanker ship and several years after, he faced a tragic accident in his workplace that caused his eyes to be both blind. It crushed his spirit as it disables him to continue as a sole provider for his family.

What good is a father if he cannot earn for his family, he thinks. The shipping company where he worked is prepared to give him a settlement, but the amount is too small for him because he thinks he deserves more. Dennis hires a lawyer to fight for his claims against the company. A fight not only for money but also for his dignity as he thinks this is the only way he can redeem himself and still provide for his family amidst his disability. But how far can he go for this battle against a giant shipping company

MARIGOLD (Anthony Hernandez) is a seasoned trans entertainer. She lives by the title "Marigold, the one and the only". A title that she earned throughout the years of glitz and glamour performances. She is easily loved by thousands of audience that has stepped on board the luxury cruise where he works for as an entertainer.

She and happy-go-lucky Kelvin has been working in that same luxury cruise for years now, but it takes one awkward situation that will bring about a friendship between them. Surprisingly, they get along very quick and develop a maternal relationship. Kelvin is a mother-orphaned man who sees a mother image in her and Marigold in return sees an image of a son that she never had in Kelvin.

They formed a relationship together that could last a lifetime - but lifetime seems to be questionable for Marigold because she is unaware of a sickness that lurks inside her brain. She is like a ticking time bomb that nobody knows - including herself, knows when she will blow off.

KENT MARISOL, 28
(from Kenton, an English place meaning ‘town on the River Kenn’)

KENT MARISOL (Ahron Villena) assumed the responsibility of being a family provider when his father was disabled by his blindness. Following his father’s path whom he looks up to and respects deeply, he works in a tanker ship. He lives a simple and sent-all-the-money lifestyle so he can all provide for his father, younger sister Karen, his wife Nerissa and his son Erwin. He even has established his own house and a little copra business.

Kent is as principled as his father Dennis. Wisdom and lessons that he learned from his father are his defenses against his daily struggles in his life at work. He even put it in use for Harley, his co-worker who attempts committing suicide when he discovered his wife left him for another man and take with her his two children. This situation made Kent realized how lucky he is for his wife Nerissa. Or at least, that’s what he thinks.

KELVIN MARISOL, 25
(Kelvin, a Scottish river meaning ‘narrow water’)

KELVIN MARISOL (Paul Hernandez) is a complete opposite of his brother Kent. He is a careless individual who only thinks of himself and lives a very luxurious life like the luxurious Cruise ship where he works as a food server. This personality is brought by the fact that at a young age of sixteen, he stows away from home and he was out for himself ever since. He never looked back and never returned home. He has a strong angst against his father Dennis because he blames him for the early demise of her mother Maria. He is not a broken man, only a broken core and he has never let anybody in. Even Maya who first started as a flirty girl but later falls in love with him. Kelvin thinks that love is just a movie thing, and women are just as sweet as vice like alcohols and cigarettes.

An incident led Kelvin to make friends with Marigold, a seasoned transgender star showgirl of the Cruise ship they are both working on. It has become a deep unexpected friendship but enough to make Kelvin crack and open up a bit. Kelvin learned so much from Marigold about life and the importance of family – an irony really, since Marigold is from an orphanage who has never known his real family. Kelvin’s friendship with Marigold is deep but short-lived. Kelvin is left devastated with the unforeseen death of Marigold after his stage performance. But this death led Kelvin to appreciate life more. But is it enough to make this prodigal son finally return home?

NERISSA, 28
(Nerissa, Greek meaning ‘nymph, sea sprite’)

NERISSA (Valerie Concepcion) is a loving wife and mother. She is a picture of a typical wife who puts family above everything else. But naivety was her weakness. She has become an easy target of Doris, her college friend, a Networker who is out to milk as much money that she can from Nerissa. Doris blinds Nerissa with all the promises of large fortune in networking business. Nerissa thinks that
if she can help Kent earn more money than what he actually makes working in a tanker ship, then his husband need not to be away from her and their son Erwin anymore. Little did she know that Doris is a hoax, it was too late when she found out her true nature. Nerissa exhausted all their money from the bank and also loaned a huge amount of money using their house and lot title as a collateral without Kent’s knowledge due to Doris’ persuasion of Nerissa. Kent learned all of this by self-discovery, during the time they needed money for an immediate operation of their son Erwin who is caught in a hit-and-run accident. Kent’s world falls apart when he realized that the fruits of all years of his hard work was all but gone. With his son’s life even on the line, are his wisdoms enough to find it in his heart to forgive his wife Nerissa?

MAYA, 20
(Maya, Hebrew meaning ‘water’)

MAYA (Jef Gaitan) is a sassy and stunning girl who knows what she wants and how to get it. She lives by a motto that goes "what Maya wants, Maya gets". How can she not? Everything can be blinded by beauty, right? Money and luxury is everything she lived for. But along the way, love has a way to trick her and expose her weaknesses. She meets Kelvin, a guy who sees beauty but nothing beyond that.

It was just fair for Maya because she's beautiful. She can play him at the palm of her hands. But what happens now that she unexpectedly fell in love and it plays her back? A love game that Kelvin is obviously never into. Will he be able see her beyond her beauty?

VALE, 20
(Vale, English word meaning ‘wide river valley’)

VALE MEDINA (Jon Lucas) is a charming stud that won the heart of Karen. They have been long sweethearts and their relationship is approved by Karen’s father, Dennis. He is a fresh marine graduate with full of dreams for himself, his family, and the love of his life Karen. He is a son of a poor farmer family who struggled to send him off tocollege. Now that he has finished his studies and finally was accepted on a job to work on a ship, everything seems to be working well for him until the day he learned that a night of passionate carelessness with Karen result to her early pregnancy.

He is now facing an early responsibility that almost proved that he is not yet ready. When his parents and his dreams are the ones that are at stake for him, will he be man enough to face this responsibility or will he bail out on Karen?

AT SI CHRISTIAN BIANDO (LARAWAN NASA ITAAS), ANG UMAWIT NG THEME SONG NG PELIKULANG "MARINEROS" (NAPAKAGANDA NG PAGKAKA-AWIT NIYA SA KANTA. SA TOTOO LANG!---RMS.**)

a new song, a new YouTube channel, lots of modelling events and endorsements- oh, my! that's lance raymundo by the month of september!!!

lance relaxing as the busy days are coming ahead

lance in a modelling photo shoot

"It's going to be an American style of promoting a song", Lance started saying to a blogger over a hot coffee at Starbucks. "A week from now, my new song entitled Sana under Viva Records will be launched and released at Spotify. Just like in the U.S., all the songs there are first released and heard on the viral world. So now, we're also doing that kind of strategy here in the Philippines.

"I'm pretty excited about it, you see", Lance continued. "It's my third single under Viva Records. And I am pretty hopeful it's gonna be that good and successful. I am ready and everything's set already."

Lance also had finished the pictorial (by photographer Wilson Fernandez) in line with the publicity of his song Sana, alongside with the short MTV of his song, which was shot in a beautiful  nature reserve far south of the Philippines.

"By October lalabas 'yung official MTV ng new song kong Sana", Lance followed-up by saying. "But before that, there will be a short video about my song which will come-out on September 11. heavy promo will follow soon and I'll gonna be very busy promoting the song by the month of October and November.

"My new song Sana is more offbeat, more friendly and merry", he continued. "Though the song speaks of regret, I helped in arranging the song in a more charming and positive way. I never experienced pain or heartbreaks in life personally, but I think I have a sensitive feeling towards others. Some people can't simply move-on from personal tragedies. But one thing good about me, in  a matter of one day, I could forgive and I could forget. I know, people could very well relate to my song."

By the way, Lance renewed his contract for Viva records and talent management for another 5 years. It was offered to him because of the huge success of his last two previous songs "You Are The One"  and "Silent Night", that's why.

"By the month of December, my previous song Silent Night will be pushed the second time around for the holidays", Lance quipped. "That's why by the month of December, Sana and Silent Night will be heard on the air waves. Their melodies provokes the Christmas spirit, you see."

Lance also has a new YouTube channel now. And lately, he's been busy with lots of modelling events and endorsements.

"My life is always on the go", Lance said in the end. "because for me, life always moves forward. We must all stand-up after every fall. No matter how the leaf falls so gracefully on the ground, a new morning happens and new leaf grows."

Very well said, Papa Lance.

PUPPETRY GOES MOBILE AT THE CCP THIS AUGUST

"PUPPETRY GOES MOBILE AT THE CCP THIS AUGUST"

THE Cultural Center of the Philippines presents the Carilyo Cart Project, a venue grant exhibition by artist and educator Marc Vincent P. Cosico on August 22, 2019, Thursday, 6pm at the CCP’s Bulwagang Carlos V. Francisco (Little Theater Lobby).  Based on the mobile puppet theater cart, the carrillo, the artist constructs art pieces that are both sculptural and functional, presenting a contemporary view of the historical material.

Writer Rae Raval expounds, “The carillo, inspired by small traveling carts in Europe, were used by Jose Rizal to transport his cardboard puppets around Calamba, Laguna.  White cloth and candles were used to stage shadowplay performances inspired by the Spanish moro-moro repertoire...The exhibit is an intricate ensemble of stages. Built to make shows mobile, these performance platforms double as interactive art pieces.  Each piece is a wheeled treasure chest that holds toys, dolls, two-dimensional and three-dimensional puppets.  These carts are vessels of commute and commune, traveling as a form of rehearsed acts.”

Cosico’s carrillos also serve as a staging area for visual presentations of light and shadowplay.  Performances will be presented with the help of Aninong Makiling, visual arts students of the Philippines High School for the Arts.

Marc Cosico is a resident visual arts teacher at the Philippine High School for the Arts.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines.  Cosico’s past solo exhibitions were held at the Don Salubayba Gallery of CASA San Miguel, San Antonio, Zambales, and in the University of the Philippines Los Banos’ Sining Makiling Gallery.  He has been part of artist residency programs in South Korea, Scotland and Casa San Miguel, Zambales.  Cosico is a recipient of the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence Award for Sculpture.

Carilyo Cart Project runs until October 27, 2019.  Exhibit viewing hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm.  Hours are extended until 10pm on days with evening performances at the CCP Main Theater.  For more information, contact the CCP Visual Arts and Museum Division, Production and Exhibition Department, at (632) 832-1125 loc. 1504/1505 and (632) 832-3702, mobile (0917-6033809), email (ccp.exhibits@gmail.com) or visit www.culturalcenter.gov.ph.

CCP, PHIL. MADRIGAL SINGERS & BATANGAS CITY HOLD MUSIC CAMP & OUTREACH FOR SING PHILIPPINES YOUTH CHOIR (SPYC)

"CCP, PHIL. MADRIGAL SINGERS & BATANGAS CITY HOLD MUSIC CAMP & OUTREACH FOR SING PHILIPPINES YOUTH CHOIR (SPYC)"

THE Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) through its Cultural Exchange Department (CED) and the Philippine Madrigal Singers (MADz) through the Andrea O. Veneracion Sing Philippines Foundation Inc. (AOVSPFI), in partnership with Batangas City, one of CCP’s Kaisa sa Sining Regional Arts Center in Luzon, hold a regional music camp with outreach concerts featuring the Sing Philippines Youth Choir (SPYC) tour group of 2019-2020, in Batangas City from August 20-25, 2019.

Composed of 40 singers selected from SPYC batches 1 to 3, the SPYC tour group members come from 24 provinces/communities all over the country.  The week-long music camp in Batangas City, which is the Luzon leg, will include sessions on singing and breathing techniques, enhancing capabilities of the singer and enabling them to contribute strongly to their respective voice sections.  The pool of trainors is led by MADz choirmaster Mark Anthony Carpio together with MADz alumni Cecilia O. Valeña (Chair-UP Department of Voice Music Theater and Dance); Nil’s Emerson Flores (bass-baritone); and Alfred Allan Samonte (MADz Executive Director). The outreach concerts will be held at the covered court of Brngy. Iligan, Batangas City on August 23-3:00pm and at the Batangas City Convention Center on August 24-5:00pm.

The SPYC project was launched in June 2014 by the MADz and the CCP CED. To date, the SPYC has 155 choristers/members from 72 provinces/local communities across the country.  The Sing Philippines movement brings to life the vision of National Artist and MADz founder Andrea O. Veneracion, of a nation singing in harmony and united in songs.  The next strategic goals of the SPYC organizers is to further advance the music training (through music camps in the regions) of a pre-auditioned group from the three batches, present them in local outreach performances this year, present them in an international concert tour in 2020 and finally have them participate in one of the prestigious choral competition in Europe in 2020.

Preparations for the Visayas and Mindanao leg of the music camp are underway.  For more information, contact the CCP Cultural Exchange at 832-1125 locals 1708-1709.

NEW CONTEMPORARY DANCE PIECES TO PREMIER AT THE CCP IN KORYOLAB

"NEW CONTEMPORARY DANCE PIECES TO PREMIER AT THE CCP IN KORYOLAB"

THE venerable Cultural Center of the Philippines which turns 50 this year is truly the home of the arts.  It is the home of tradition.  Within its walls performances of the great classics, of traditional works from our regional brothers, theatrical pieces by the greatest playwrights of all time.

But it is also the one place in the nation where new works, where out of the box performances, where stories and ideas can be tested without fear.  It is the home of artists of all ages and all genres.  It is a space for experimentation and daring.

On August 24 and 25, five new choreographic pieces will be premiered in KORYOLAB at the CCP Tanghalang Huseng Batute (CCP Studio Theater) at 2:00pm and 6:00pm.  Five new works, five dynamic young choreographers mentored by Gawad CCP awardee Denisa Reyes and internationally renowned choreographer and teacher Myra Beltran.

These contemporary pieces tackle memories of forgotten childhood in Sarah Samaniego’s Alala, and the unique world within the world of the malls in which we now live as shown in Mano: Fracture by Buboy Ruatico Jr. Christopher Chan’s Men-Ta-Li-Tic opens our mind to how norms hinder us from accessing truth while BUhay Pag Asa by Dingdong Selga is a painful tale of children in cramped cells.  Finally, Michael Barry Que’s Suggested for you deals with the contemporary phenomenon of Instagram.

Join us on August 24 and 25.  Bear witness to the birth of these new contemporary pieces. Works that truly reflect our truths, that tell stories.  Works that express joy and sorry through the ineffable beauty of dance.

Tickets are available at all TicketWorld outlets.  For more information, please call 832-1125 local 1409.

A VERY LINGERING EFFECT AND CALMNESS AT DOLCE FAR NIENTE SPA...

ACTOR CED TORRECARION, OWNS DOLCE FAR NIENTE SPA TOGETHER WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND LEE

LEE ANN LAZARO (CED'S GF) INSIDE THE INTERIORS OF DOLCE FAR NIENTE SPA

In this Millenial Age when people rush in and out from day to day, all fighting in their many kinds and forms of survival and existence, it's hard to breathe-in and out sometimes. It's hard to take a moment and walk aimlessly for a while, and sometimes, hard to look for a place to go to and hide- simply do nothing and escape life's many trivial moments. A person needs to rest for  a while, because even God Himself rested on the 7th Day. And humans are weaker by nature, they need some few moments to relax, soothe themselves in, and be at peace.

When TV and stage actor Ced Torrecarion, together with his pretty girlfriend- Ms. Lee Ann Lazaro, suffered the 'Fate' of looking for a relaxing place to go every time they're stressed-out from work, they came-up with an idea of putting up their own Spa, wherein they could both relax and chill-in, and at the same time, form a business that could be beneficial to everyone, especially to celebrities and actors like Ced.

"Imagine, me and my girlfriend Lee going to the Spa at least 3 to 4 times a week during those stressed-out times", Ced told a blogger who visited the DOLCE FAR NIENTE WELLNESS SPA branch in P. Victor St., corner Sampaguita St. Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati. "Most especially my girlfriend who's always stressed-out from her work at the Agency. So one time, we talked. Why not put-up our business, our own Spa? And with God's Will, after two weeks of planning to put-up our own Spa, the Quezon City branch was born. It's located at Road 3, Project 6, Quezon City. And soon, everything went-on fast. We've been having many demands, many requests for home service, many clients. It all went fully well.

"Kapag nandito kami sa Spa namin, parang nasa ibang mundo na kami ng girlfriend ko", Ced continued to say. "We're totally hibernating and recharging here, even for a short time. Because you see, aside from our Spa and Massage services, we also have Foot Spa, Nails, and the likes. That's why our regular customers who comes over here, they enjoy the packages we offer at the Spa.

"But  one thing's good about our Spa that makes us different from all the rest is, there's NO EXTRA SERVICE at our Spa. I guess, you know hat I mean, Robert. We want our Spa to be decent and wholesome and clean. It's the biggest rule of our Spa, our Therapists know that", he said.

According to Ced, one hour of a good massage is already equivalent to 8 full hours of sleep.

"Because it totally relaxes your body", Ced quipped. "It recharges your spirit, communes with your soul. Definitely, a good break from a stressful life we all live in."

DOLCE FAR NIENTE. What does it mean, by the way?

"It means 'the sweetness of doing nothing'...", Lee, the girlfriend of Ced, butted in. "It took us for quite a while of the name we'll gonna give to our Spa. We Googled and Googled for the right names and the right words. Until I saw it- the 'Sweetness of Doing Nothing', which in Italian words are: DOLCE FAR NIENTE.

"What makes our Spa different from all the rest? Well, I could say that our Spa is totally clean, and it's neat, it's also not dark, you won't be afraid to go in once you entered our Spa. Plus the fact that all our Therapists have licenses and certificates. We are very legal. And me and my boyfriend Ced are both very hands-on in this business of ours. We do it ourselves. I for one, I personally buy the oils being used during morning time. And evening time, it's Ced's turn to shift-in,"Lee Ann concluded saying.

Celebrity clients like Ms. Gloria Diaz, Ejay Falcon, Junjun Quintana, Mike Flores, talent manager Ricky Gallardo, and others more are frequent habitues to the Spa's services. Most of the times, they would ask for the Spa's therapists to come-over on their residences or their gyms to have those relaxing massages.

Since one blogger (us-***) was hesitant to try their body massage because of his hypertension, and the Foot Spa because of a slight wound on his feet, this blogger simply tried their Paraffin Wax Hand Massage which was so fantastic, so relieving to the hand's veins and muscles and visibly magnifying in result.

You would feel all the stress on your hands coming-out as the wax candle material/ingredient was applied meticulously by the Therapist via on hands and the heat was absorbing the tiredness and the tension in your it- and goes all throughout your body's reflexes.

We recommend the Paraffin Wax Hand Massage of Dolce Far Niente Wellness Spa to every writers whose hands are now tired and weary from typing at the computers. Surely, this kind of hand massage service would surely recharge your hands and restore its vibrancy.

In our lives, we must also be a little kinder to ourselves. We also love our very being. We must take care of our own magnificent parts of our bodies.

It needs a little pampering, too. Some little and gentle touches and caresses is what all it needs-

to relax you

to recharge you

to let you not do nothing even for a moment

as the SWEETNESS of life

will capture anew the lingering joy

of  peace and love

FOREVER.
