star: actress-worthy |
After her very provocative performance of a sexually-starved lesbian in the critically-acclaimed film Bliss (directed by Jerold Tarog), Star Orjaliza is never running-out of film and TV projects lately. And the most exciting one is the film she's currently shooting now entitled Right To Kill. Because in this film, it's no less than Brillante Dante Mendoza who's directing her.
"I play the role of a policewoman in the movie", Star revealed to a blogger during their first shooting day. "This role is something new to me because it's my first time to act-out as a policewoman. And I am so happy that direk Brillante Mendoza chose me for this role.
"After the movie Bliss, I guess, projects just kept on coming my way", Star continued. "Marami kasi ang nakapansin sa akin sa movie na iyon, and it's my biggest and most challenging role so far. I just keep in mind now, I must really be professional not to disappoint the people I work with."

Star started it out in many auditions. She just kept on auditioning and auditioning when she was just starting. She never got tired doing it, until her efforts were paid-off and she was casted in a lot of indie films that signaled the start of her career.
"Imagine, I was just commuting then- riding buses and jeepneys in those auditions", Star recalled. "Now, I no longer commute hard. I ride Uber taxi's and it's a sign of progress, di ba? I will never deny my humble beggining as an actress. Those were my challenges that will always make me stronger.
"The indie film scene taught me much and I became a better actress after appearing in indie films", Star continued again. "I played variety of roles- from a pregnant woman to a nun, you name it, I have portrayed a lot, really. And I always keep in mind to do my very best."
The likes of Ms. Star Orjaliza, it's clear by now, are setting a new trend in the acting scene. Look at Angeli Bayani beating the likes of Sharon Cuneta and Angel Aquino in the recent Cinemalaya Film Festival awards night. Like Angeli, Star also started it out portraying character roles- but because of their greatness in their acting skills, better roles went along the way.
There's now a distinction between commercialism and Arts. What matters most now, the likes of Star Orjaliza are getting the much-needed attention to make the Art of acting a lot easier for film directors' tastes.
"My idol is Angelina Jolie", Star revealed in the end. "I like her passion for acting, I like her eyes, I like the way she attacks a role. her strength of character, too, clearly defines her."
And just like Angelina, Ms. Star Orjaliza will surely go a long, long way in the acting scene. That, we guarantee.
