It all started-out when Aaron Dioquino joined the Acting Workshop of Gantimpala Theater Foundation in the year 2014. And Roeder Camanag was his teacher at that Acting Workshop.
"I was just a shy kid back then", came Aaron's first words in an interview. "I don't talk with my fellow workshop students. I would just sit in one corner and be very quiet. But later on, when I am already acting-out in those major theater productions, I just found myself finally coming-out from a shell. I gained more self-confidence since I became a theater actor!
"You see, Sir Robert, that's why I am really thankful that I got into this acting field", he further continued on. "It opened-up a lot of other great aspects about my personality. I also became more friendly, more sociable, more adventurous. Sharing my acting talent, too, is one great opportunity for me. I always try to give my very best."
And obviously, handsome and cute Aaron's work had paid-off at once. He landed good roles in some major theater productions at Gantimpala Theater Foundation and also at the Artist Playground.
"My very first big break was when I played the young Florante in GTF's Florente at Laura", Aaron said again. "Then after that, director Jeffrey Camanag got me na to portray various roles at El Filibusterismo. I also appeared in some major theatrical productions of Artist Playground like Laro and Roses for Ben."
Aaaron's very first role in El Filibusterismo in the year 2014 was Tano, the son of Kabesang Tales. Then, he also portrayed Macaraig and Placido Penitente in succeeding years. This year, he's out to portray the role of Isagani.
"The role of Isagani role in El Filibusterismo is one very idealistic guy", Aaron told of his character in the play. "He is very hopeful in life and he's very much in love with one pretty lady named Paulita. At that time, the Philippines is still under the rule of Spain, and Isagani is working out a lot to achieve his dreams. One night, he talked it out with Basilio and Simoun, and the three of them wants freedom from the Spanish rule.
"Isagani is one person na may paninindigan", he quipped. "He's thinking of solutions. He plans of doing some steps to make his country a better place to live-in."
Now that the world of Theater had become a part of Aaron's life, he surely wants to be there for a very long time.
"It's something that gives me so much energy", Aaron said in the end. "Without Theater, my world will never be the same again."
That's my boy.
