San Pablo City in Laguna province is known for extravagance, festivities, old traditional ways of Filipino hospitality, and of course, artistic creations and well-known ARTISTS.

This is the kind of City "to die for". Many musical compositions- like that of the song Laguna by singer Sampaguita, were also born out of this great city. And now, a group of creative and young fashion designers-, all joined hands in supporting the Face of the Year 2018 search. 

Tomorrow, December 15, 2017, at the LE REVE Events Place along Sgt. Esguerra St., the San Pablo City fashion designers (the Fashion Designers Association of Laguna*) will showcase their creations in this Pre-Pageant event of Face of the Year 2018 called the GLAMOUR NIGHT.

All the candidates will wear beautiful evening gowns (for females) and fabulous Tuxedos or Formal Wear (for males), which were created and designed by these young and popular fashion designers of San Pablo City. 

In the said GLAMOUR NIGHT of the event, candidates will imitate Hollywood celebrities of their choices, as they walk along the red-carpet runway. Pretty exciting, isn't it? And oh, so FAB!

Winners of these so-called Glamour Night will automatically land on the TOP FIVE at the coming final Pageant Night on January 2018. More than 50 celebrities, film directors, talent casters, film producers, radio DJ's, visual graphic artists, bloggers and fellow models will judge the Glamour Night tomorrow of Face of the Year 2018.

Moda Ivanka, fashion designer

"This is our first time to support the Face of the Year", the beautiful Dames of Moda Ivanka said to a blogger. "That's why we're all pretty excited. It's Frances Ortiz, a female candidate and handsome Ram Rivera, a male candidate, who were both given to us to create clothes for them on the Glamour Night."

The two Dames of designer Moda Ivanka told a blogger that their designs are "simple but elegant", and it's up to the two candidates to carry them well.

Meanwhile, the Grand Matriarch of the San Pablo City fashion designers- in person of Sir Renato Atang Concibido, described the Face of the Year 2018 search as- "A very prestigious contest", he quipped. "It's a star-building contest, too, aside from being a modelling search. Many of those who won in this contest appeared in many print ads, TV commercials and the movies, as well."

Sir Renato is an old friend of Mr. Jojo Veloso, the man behind Face of the Year (FOTY). 

"I am happy because when my career started, FOTY became a part of it", he said. "And now that I am coming back, and so is FOTY. What a coincidence, di ba? I am so happy I was given a chance to support Mr. Jojo Veloso, who's a good friend of mine."

Sir Renato will dress-up two males and two female candidates at the Glamour Night tomorrow.

Another participating fashion designer from San Pablo City is Ms. Chiva Siason. She will dress up 4 candidates tomorrow- 2 boys and 2 girls.

"I'm hopeful that they will all give great justice to my designs and project my creations well", Chiva told a blogger. "It's also my first time to support FOTY."

Chiva describes her creations as- "Sexy, sophisticated, fierce and independent-minded."

And here comes Jenny Bernardo Belen, another fashion designer from San Pablo City participating in the event:

"I will be dressing-up tomorrow one male candidate and one female candidate", Jenny said. "My design for the female candidate is one simple Serpentine gown with fully-beaded design. It's a work of art!"

Jenny has been supporting many pageants in San Pablo City for the last 20 years.

And last but not the least is John Allan Nograles.

"The way I describe my designs? Well it's more on the artistic side!', John told a blogger. "It's also more on the creative side. It's what I like, you see. Something different that catches the eye."

John Allan describes the FOTY search as: "Not so commercialized and not reality-based as well", he said. "It's more on the prestige side pa din. It's a very daring search and I am so happy that FOTY is still existing. I love it."

If ever the models of John Allan wins, who will all wear his creations on tomorrow's event, what would he feel then?

"Oh, my!", John Allan said at the end. "I think I would feel so very proud. I will also be very happy. But more than that, I can say by now, I am so glad that I am a part of the Face of the year 2018 search!"

Kapansin-pansin ang pagiging dignified nila pareho nu'ng hapon na iyon habang kinukuha ng mga respetadong fashion designers ang mga body measurements nila para sa gaganaping GLAMOUR NIGHT ng Face of the year 2018. Pareho silang POISED NA POISED kapag nakaupo. Mapapansin mong well-bred and very much educated young ladies sila.

Kaya naman alam ng isang blogger, hindi masasayang ang oras niya kapag ininterbyu niya ang mga dignified ladies na ito. Sila ay sina FRANCES ORTIZ AT IVORY MARGUERETTE ALAJAR, mga babaeng kandidata para sa FOTY (Face of the Year 2018).

FRANCES ORTIZ

Frances is only 18 years old, 5'5" tall at isang true-blooded artist. Nagkaroon na siya ng sarili niyang Painting Exhibit sa U.S.T.

"Mixed media po ang kadalasang motiff ng mga paintings ko", sabi pa ni Frances sa isang blogger. "My genre in creating my paintings is my own feelings. I express my feelings through my paintings. Then, I add flowers, scenery, leaves, petals on it. The result is beautiful."

Pero aside from Paiting, Frances' other talents includes modelling, dancing and Photography. She joined FOTY because she wanted to further develop her skills.

"Ako po kasi ang tipo ng tao na competitive and achiever in life", sabi pa ni Frances. "I take challenges as they are. And of course, alam ko po kasing stepping stone ko ang pagsali ko sa FOTY. Gusto ko rin po kasing maging isang artista balang-araw, eh."

Paano naman kaya kung ma-inlab ang isang Frances Ortiz?

"Lahat ay ginagawa ko para sa taong mahal ko", sagot niya. "Sweet ako pero palaban din. Gagawin ko ang lahat para hindi ako iwan ng taong mahal ko."

That's the spirit, Frances! Atta Girl!

IVORY MARGUERETTE ALAJAR

She's the typical mestiza type na classy ang ways and manners. May resemblance siya kay Zsazsa Padilla (nu'ng kbataan pa nito) at ang pagkakaroon niya ng wavy, long hair ay tila ata mas nagpadagdag ng kanyang angking kagandahan. And her name is Ivory Marguerette.

Ivory is only 20 years old. She stands 5'7" at ang special skills niya ay modelling, dancing, acting, travelling and hang-outing with friends.

"Usually, ang first impression po sa akin ay tahimik lang", sabi pa ni Ivory. "Pero kapag nakuha mo na ang ugali ko, you'll soon know na kalog din ako at palatawa. Kasi, I don't easily open-up to people. I measure muna one person bago ako makipag-close sa kanila."

Ang crushes ni Marguerette sa local ay si James Reid, sa international naman ay si Justin Bieber. Ang idol naman niya ay ang singer na si Selena Gomez.

"Love for me is like this", dugtong na nasabi pa ni Marguerette. "Na kahit niloloko ka na nu'ng tao, mahal mo pa rin siya. Magbubulag-bulagan ka sa mga panloloko niya sa iyo. At maski alam mo nang mali siya, mahal mo pa rin siya. Gagawa ka ng effort para itama siya."

Isang lalaking MAY TAKOT SA DIYOS ang ideal man ni Ivory.
