A lone director that sat from Above. Up on a crane, as he thought of characters and events that he could turn into a film.
A coffin that found its way down into the stage, with "statue-like" actors revealing some scenes that you often saw on the movies.
A world, still, that belonged to the "third", with half-naked teenagers sniffing shabu, tenement houses on the backdrop or backgrounds that revealed poverty and children of a lesser of God.
A sand artist showing images on the wide screen that could reach atop the highest balcony section of the Main Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Mixed-in with a song about a loving "two", and, another two actresses who acted-out a dramatic scene about drugs and killings.
With a handsome group of a cultural dance that mingled in some scenes of an almost well-acted ONE ACT play.
IMAGES, VISIONS, AND THE FINAL OUTCOME OF WHAT WAS IT ALL ABOUT-
The awarding ceremonies of the 13th Cinemalaya Film Festival had just begun.
With heavy tears from the major winners like actress Angeli Bayani, directors Joseph Israel Laban and Treb Monteras- it was another emotional award-giving rites, much as it was.
And these were "kids" winning majority of the awards, kids that had gotten hurt with the Social Networking sites that belittled them, intrigued them, challenged them.
Kids, yes, kids. Who simply wanted to contribute something to the Cinematic Arts, and show to the world that Filipinos are still great, talented, artistic.
With a fast-paced flow of the award-giving ceremonies and program, the excitements and thrills were easily subdued.
The presenters did their job well, the speeches were short and brief- except to that of Ms. Laurice Guillen- with her speech that sounded like she was teaching the "Basics of Filmaking" to Elementary grade school students.
As you could imagine, a bunch of kids jumping and doing acrobatic kicks as they entered upon a room,- yes, this was, the world of young indie film makers and the Millenial kids of Philippine Cinema that you entered into. And don't make them cry anymore.
Hurrahs, yeheys, and claps were not enough. The winners were poised and exuberant- and the outcome of it all was SATISFYING.
Looking upon the flag of the Philippines and the star-like glitters on the wall ceilings of Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, you would say to yourself: "I still choose the Philippines".
Because, when the old and the young mingled in the world of Film Making...
it had only gotten a lot more personal...
and a lot more loving-
until
the
word
FOREVER
was ever meant to be.
