In these times of great health crisis, popular actors and actresses and other more celebrities did prove to everyone that they are worth to be idolized, loved and adored. Because many of them did their own shares in making this world a better place to live in. They helped, they volunteered, they went-out of their 'comfort zones'- and risk their own safety and health- just to be of help to other people.

Actor Ced Torrecarion, together with actress Ynez Veneracion also went out of their way to do the same. They distributed huge packages of fresh vegetables to Covid-19 affected residents in a Barangay somewhere in Banawe, Quezon City. 

"Not for ourselves alone that we are born", Ced Torrecarion, known for his supporting roles in different TV teleseryes in Channel 2 and also one of the owners of Dolce Far Niente Wellness Spa, told a blogger over a brief chat at Facebook. "And it feels much happier to be able to do something for our fellow Filipinos. To be of help and useful. That's why I never hesitated to sweat and perspire in helping and delivering those vegetables in a Barangay somewhere in Banawe, Q.C. I am strong physically and I took the necessary precautions for my own safety."

Ced wants to thank SpeedCars branch in Banawe, Mr. Phil Marcelo Villamar and Eleanor Villamar, Atty. Larry Godon, Condrad Dieza, Herbert Martinez and Atty. Thorson Kieth for making the volunteer work successful in Banawe, Quezon City. Also to actress Ynez Veneracion and of course, to the friends of Bongbong Marcos.

"I felt so humbled by the experience", Ced said in the end. "We were able to do the first and second waves of distributing the vegetables package to the people that lasted until last Holy Week. Now, we are waiting if there will be a third wave of operations. If there will be, I would gladly be there still."

God bless the pure heart of actor Ced Torrecarion. He is like an angel sent from the heavens. More power!!!!

Isa sa mga hindi namin malilimutang pagganap sa entablado ay 'yung kakaibang pag-arte na ipinamalas ni Ced Torrecarion bilang Pontio Pilato sa Senakulong Martir Sa Golgota ng Tanghalang Sta. Ana (na ginaganap taon-taon sa Plaza Calderon, Sta. Ana, Manila). Kaya naman nu'ng muli namin siyang makita para kapanayamin, ang tinanong namin agad sa kanya ay kung muli ba niyang gagampanan ang papel na Pontio Pilato sa taong ito?

"Hindi na muna siguro", naging maagap na kasagutan ni Ced Torrecarion. "Kasi, for the past 7 years already, I have been portraying it na. Kaya this year, I wanna' have a break na muna. For personal and important reasons, pass muna ako this year.

"When I first portrayed the Pontius Pilate character, I really prayed to God that I will be able to portray the role effectively", dugtong na sabi pa ni Ced. "Nu'ng unang in-offer sa akin ni direk Lou Veloso ang character na iyan, I accepted it at once and it became my vow to the Lord. At that time kasi, my mom was battling with the Cancer sickness. Naging panata ko sa Diyos na gagampanan ko ang papel na Pontio Pilato para sa Diyos, at para matulungan Niya ang mom ko na may sakit noon na Cancer. My mom died more than a couple of years back, but I haven't stopped portraying Pontius Pilate. I feel, this time, pahinga naman ako.

"Hindi natin nakita kung ano ang hitsura at ang pananalita ni Pontio Pilato", anya pa. "At 'yun ang naging hamon para sa akin. At base naman sa mga nakapanood na sa akin sa pagganap ko sa papel na iyon, halos lahat naman ay pinuri ako."

Nagkaroon din ng pasumandaling 'break' si Ced sa mga pagganap niya sa mga 'dark characters' nu'ng medyo maiba naman ang role niya sa katatapos lamang na teleserye sa channel 2 na Starla, kung saan ang naging papel niya doon ay isang married man with 'extra-marital' affairs.

"Naging happy ending naman ang role ko doon, dahil sa pagtatapos ng teleserye ay bumalik ako sa asawa ko", kuwento pa ni Ced. "Naghihintay ako muli ngayon ng panibagong offer para sa isang teleserye. Kaya heto, medyo may time ako ngayon sa business namin- ang Dolce Far Niente Wellness Spa at sa sports ko na basketball."

"Isang corrupt policeman ang papel ko dito", kuwento ni Ced. "Ang setting ay sa probinsya at under ako sa payroll ng mga Hacienderos doon. Kontrabida ulit ang role ko sa pelikula."

Ang dream role pala ni Ced na magampanan someday ay ang role ng isang Psychotic.

"I love portraying offbeat characters kasi, mas may challenge for me", muling sabi ni Ced. "Dahil na rin siguro may theater background ako at mas sanay ako sa mga mas mapanghamong papel, kaya I find offbeat characters really challenging to portray."

At 'yung huling tanong namin kay Ced na payag na ba siyang magpa-seksi sa mga pelikula o TV roles, heto naman naging sagot niya:

"Paghahandaan ko pa", huling sambit ni Ced. "I need to go to the gym muna. As of now, hindi pa ako ready. I need to shape-up first."

Sa totoo lang, the next time na iinterbyuhin namin itong si Ced Torrecarion, dapat ay 'yung bago kami magpa-massage sa Dolce Far Niente Spa na pag-aari niya at ng girlfriend niyang si Lee Ann. Pa'nu ba naman kasi, kapag after ng body massage namin interbyuhin si Ced, totally relaxed na ang mind namin at hindi na namin malaman ang mga tanong na dapat itanong sa kanya. Maski nu'ng irebyu namin ang interview notes namin sa kanya, hindi na rin namin halos maalala ang mga tanong at sagot sa interbyuhan namin sa kanya after ng isang hard body massage sa DOLCE FAR NIENTE SPA. Ced has got the proper looks to be a BIDA MAN naman. Guwapo, maamo ang mukha, matangkad at debonaire-looking. Almost like a James Bond in poise and manners.

Pero 'yun nga, pilit na inilalagay si Ced ng mga talent casters sa mga papel na pulis, hired goon o assasin, killer, guwardiya, zombie, bodyguard, o bad guy. Laging ganu'n. Samantalang napakalawak naman ng potentials ng acting range ni Ced. Huwag naman sanang puro salbahe na lamang.

Kasi kung sa pagalingan lang ng pag-arte, aba naman, hindi pahuhuli itong si Ced. When we watched him one time portray the role of Pontius Pilate sa dulang Martir Sa Golgota ng Tanghalang Sta. Ana (hayan mine-mention pa rin namin ang theater group na Tanghalang Sta. Ana, ha, maski ba napaka-suplada ng Production Manager ng theater group na ito!)- ay talagang napahanga kami sa angkin niyang kagalingan. Kapag umarte siya, nama-maximize niya ang kabuuuan ng audience area- lumulutang ng husto at damang-dama mo. Gano'n siya katindi umarte!

Kaya talagang hihintayin namin na magbida na this year sa mga TV teleseryes si Ced, o maski na sa isang indie film lang. Puwede siyang gawin "the other man" o lover boy, o maski mismong bidang lalaki, di ba? Sana bigyan pansin ng mga talent casters ang mungkahi naming ito.

And now, heto ang isang malaking katanungan para kay Ced: Handa na nga ba siyang magpa-seksi sa taong 2020?

As of press time, ayaw pang sagutin ni Ced ang katanungan na iyan. Pero isang blogger ay may naiisip na magandang konsepto para sa isang concert na pagbibidahan nina Ced at ng isa pang actor-singer na si Lance Raymundo. Ang concert na iyon ay tipong Magic Mike ang tema. (Magic Mike is a Hollywood film na kung saan ay macho dancer ang papel ng bidang si Channing Tatum).

Wow, a couple of nights back, I just had a very amazing experience that I wanna share to everybody. it's really the first time that it had happened to me. I mean, 'yung bigla at sobrang na-relaks ang mind mo at napunta sa very calm stage, Kaya hayun, when it's time na to interview Ced Torrecarion and his gf Lee Ann, bigla akong NAWALA. Ayaw ma-stress ng utak o ma-pressure. Basta nasa very relaxed dimension lang siya. I cannot seem to grasp for questions, wala akong maitanong kina Ced. at hindi ko lang pinahalata sa kanila, talagang first time nangyari sa akin 'yun! I mean, kapag media person ka kasi, INSTINCT mo na 'yung aggressive ka sa pagtatanong ng mga questions, eh. Kusa 'yung lumalabas at the spur of the moment. Dahil before the interbyuhan naman, alam mong prepared ka na. I have been like that for the past 35 years in entertainment writing (being an entertainment writer at a very young age of 20 years old). 'Yung utak mo, kusang gagana 'yun sa pagtatanong kasi nasa dugo mo na ang pagiging isang MEDIA.

Pero 'yun nga, nagulat ako. that very night, after I had a great HARD BODY MASSAGE sa Dolce Far Niente Wellness Spa, talaga yatang napunta sa "very relaxed state" ang mind ko. Ayaw nang gumana, ayaw nang magtrabaho. Basta nag-enjoy na lang yung isipan ko sa very relaxing feeling and mood na iyon. Ang galing-gling ng male therapist nilang si Marvin, na naka-duty gabi-gabi sa branch nila sa Road 3, Project 6, Q.C. Balita pa namin, suki ni Marvin ang isa pang writer na si Mell T. Navarro, sa tuwing pupunta ang huli sa nasabing Spa nina Ced at Lee Ann. May mga suki ring sport-athletes and celebrities ang mga therapists ng Dolce Far Niente Wellness Spa, f.y.i. Kasama na diyan sina Ejay Falcon, Pilita Corales, at iba pa.

Plus the fact na kay sarap-sarap ka-bonding nina Ced at Lee Ann, kasama ang very warm na father ni Ced na si Mr. Sao Torrecarion at ang brother and sister niya, when we had a dinner at an Ilonggo restaurant owned by actor Joel Torre.

Inihatid pa ako sa bahay ng guwapong younger bro ni Ced, Grabe talaga. Kaka-touch. Truly, it's one of the most beautiful and unforgettable nights for me. Salamat, Ced and Lee Ann.

THE MANY FACES OF AN ACTOR, THE MANY CHARACTERS OF CED TORRECARION (IN PHOTOS)....

When we happened to watch actor Ced Torrecarion one time at Martir Sa Golgota Senakulo by Tanghalang Sta. Ana early in the year 2019, we will not ever forget his great magnitude and hugeness as an actor in an embracing form.

His portrayal there as Pontius Pilate was overwhelming, so mesmerizing, so gigantic. We just wondered why the Senakulo Martir Sa Golgota remained so low-key, unnoticed by the likes of Aliw Awards people, and other award-giving bodies in theater. Perhaps because of the "snubbish attitude" of the staff and people behind the theater group? We are just asking now. Because Martir Sa Golgota is so beautiful, but only if the staff would be a little nicer to their visitors like to the people in the media who does reviews and to the people from award-giving bodies. If the people behind that Senakulo would just give a little time to these people, they would start to notice the importance and beauty of the play Martir Sa Golgota.

Ced Torrecarion's performance as Pontius Pilate in that passion play was something we haven't seen so far. It's just that people would not seem to notice because Ced is so low-key, silent and humble.

We have also watched Ced in many different TV teleseryes, and he's always good as someone who's carrying a gun- like that of a NBI agent, a policeman or an assassin. Simply perfect.

We also love Ced portray Jesus Christ one time in a play, and a zombie-like character in the currently-running TV teleserye at channel 2 entitled "Parasite Island".

Ced is now fast-becoming in demand on TV, theater, and even indie films. Because of his goodness as an actor, and his professionalism as well,  surely, Ced is now joining the ranks of other great character actors.

Right now, Ced is also busy supervising DOLCE FAR NIENTE SPA, the Spa for the stars, with its branches at Project 6, Q.C. and Guadalupe, Makati. he owns the place together with his pretty girlfriend Lee Ann. A separate article on this Spa will soon again be seen at this blog site.

Surely, Ced is having the best of both worlds.
