In this lifetime, there are no BIG parts, or small parts.

In the world of performing artists, there no small roles and big roles, too.

It's the IMPACT of your performance that matters the most. Because no matter how huge or how tiny your role is, it's still how well you delivered it.  And nothing else matters.

When we saw theater actor in person of Randy Rey in the play Maynila: Sa Mga Kuko Ng Liwanag last year, his acting skills fascinated us. He only appeared in small parts of the Cast Ensemble there, but still, he managed to get our attention. And he further proved to us, that there are no really big or small roles, only great performers.

Without supporting actors like RANDY REY, now being casted in Gantimpala Theater Foundation's Season-ending play- EL FILIBUSTERISMO, lead actors in a play will be crippled, because they would lack the proper support and provocations.

"I consider myself like a sponge that could absorb every liquid material being poured upon me", came Randy Rey's meaningful words in an interview. "Being an actor is like absorbing everything. You must be very sensitive enough to FEEL.

"I won't say I'm perfect, though", he continued. "But what I can say is, I always do my best in any role or part being given to me as an actor. I may always be at the back ground most of the times, but little by little now, I'm getting good parts and that's one clear sign that I'm doing okay, so far."

For the last four years now, Randy Rey is among the cast and staff of GTF's EL FILIBUSTERISMO.

"I started it out as an assistant director there", Randy Rey reminisced. "But later on, as I focused more on being an actor, I portrayed already a variety of roles in El Filibusterismo. In the previous years, I was able to portray Padre Salvi, Kapitan Basilio, Padre Millon and Padre Camorra. This year, though, I will be portraying various characters along the play. But they will notice me more as Padre Millon and Kapitan Basilio on this season of performances for the play."

As years went by, Randy also realized how powerful is the play and the novel entitled EL FILIBUSTERISMO is.

"In the start, I did not even know the story and the great wonderful message of this great novel written by our National Hero", Randy said. "Because you see, when I was in high school, I did not even read the novel. Hahahaha!!! But now that I was appearing on the play version of that novel, I told myself: Shit, ang ganda-ganda pala ng istorya!  It tells of the people living at the time of the Spanish Era. And it's really so powerful, with great hidden messages.

"That's why I suggest, the Millenial youths of today must see this play over and over again", he continued. "Because via this play, they will be aware of what's really happening in a society. And what happens also when people become too greedy for power and wealth."

Now on his mid-30's, Randy Rey would continue on performing and acting.

"My dream role someday is to portray a woman character in a play", Randy ended by saying. "It happened in the rerun of Binondo: The Musical. I was chosen to be the proxy to a female actress and I portrayed a woman role. But somehow, I wanted more. I wanted a complete female character worthy of value and attention in my upcoming plays. It's my quench. It's my wanting. To become a real woman, you see."

Just by acting, Randy. But in real life? Maybe.
