ruffa mae; good acting, though. |
the whole cast & crew of "bagyong bheverlynn" at their gala night last oct. 13 at trinoma cinema 4 |
How we missed any kind of "rock scenes" in the film Bagyong Bheverlynn (a Cinema One Originals 2018 competing film this year), or with that sole female lead character of the film doing some electric guitars, drums, head-banging's, and all. That could be perfect to her character. And it would make the film a real riot to look at when rockers were there.
But anyway, the film spelled R-O-C-K. ROCK, as we might say. Because the character of Ms. Ruffa Mae Quinto as Bheverlynn in the movie is a real rocker, wild, stubborn and free. Crazy, maybe, but that's what all people could turn out to be when on the verge of an emotional breakdown after splitting up with her egoistic boyfriend, played with clarity and suave by handsome actor EA Guzman, who was the real standout in the film.
Ms. Ruffa Mae delivered her character with precision, but there was no depth in it. She just acted good, that's all. She should have mixed-in some real ingredients of pains and at times, subtlety, so that there was a BREAKER in many of her 'physicalized-kind-of-acting'. Nevertheless, she was really funny all throughout the movie and she could really make you laugh.
Maybe if she was given some "rock scenes", like, being wild at a party as she played an electric guitar or sang an electrifying song- definitely, an acting highlight like that could somehow grab an acting award.
angelina: she knows the ingredients of a good acting |
Look at what Ms. Angelina Kanapi did to her character on the film: she perfectly poured-in some serious stuff of emotional drippings, and poise- and it all looked so okay. That's the kind of acting anyone would wanna see.
jude matthew: a sincere way of an acting delivery |
Theater actor Jude Matthew Sevilla, also did strong and convincing. He never over-acted, he never made himself look like a caricature all-throughout the film. And he provided some more sincere aspects on the plot of the story. And that's the job of an actor- TO DELIVER THE STORY OF THE FILM TRUTHFULLY AND NOT TO ESCAPE FROM IT.
With all the honest intentions of the film to lift-up people suffering from great pains after a downfall in a relationship- Bagyong Bheverlynn succeeded fully. Although the story was meant to simply entertain, there were redeeming values and honest feelings.
direk charliebebs: comedy genre makes him one |
Director Charliebebs Gohetia knew his craft and genre. We guessed as we watched and finished the film in its Gala Night last October 13 at the Trinoma Cinema 4, director Charliebebs must continue doing comedy films like this one, and yeah, he could be the nice replacement for the late film director Wenn Deramas (R.I.P.) who was the modern master in the art of comedy films.
Acting could be handsome. And looks could kill.
When personal storms conquers the world, the only thing that could stop them is not Self-Love, but Self-Trust.
And when an actor like EA Guzman was able to deliver all the TRUST, and, the exact nuances of a comedic film role...,
Maybe, just maybe, more films like Bagyong Bheverlynn would evolve...
Now,
AND forevermore.
