Buwena- manong naging imbitasyon para sa amin sa taong 2020 ang imbitasyon ni direk Neal Tan sa amin na panoorin ang rushes ng bagong advocacy film niyang "Okey Ka, Friend" ng Oxigain Film productions. At sa pelikulang iyon, ang bida niya ay walang iba kundi ang actor-singer-model-host na si Lance Raymundo.

"Wala akong masabi kay Lance, napakagaling niya sa pelikulang ito!", bungad na sabi sa amin ni direk Neal Tan sa isang umagang pinapanood niya sa amin ang rushes ng pelikulang Okey Ka, Friend. "Hindi niya ako binigyan ni katiting na problema while we were shooting the film. Very cooperative siya at supportive sa aming lahat. At kapag take na, lagi siyang ready at kuhang-kuha niya ang karakter niya sa pelikulang ito bilang isang Professor na tutulong sa mga estudyante niyang may mental health issues."

Nagkataong in real-life ay Mental Health advocate itong si Lance, at iyon ang hindi alam ni direk Neal Tan, kaya naman nu'ng mapanood ng isang blogger ang mga eksena ni lance sa nasabing advocacy film, talagang seryoso at makatotohanan ang pagganap ni Lance.

"He is one actor who is really serious with his craft, kaya naman I don't wonder why he keeps on winning many awards and recognitions lately", pagpapatuloy na wika ni direk Neal Tan. "Sobrang pinahanga talaga niya ako sa pelikula naming pinamagatang Okey Ka, Friend! He fits the role to a 'T' talaga. Kaya sa susunod na mga pelikulang gagawin ko, hindi ko kalilimutang kunin ulit si Lance."

Sa ngayon, ayaw nang makipag-compete ni direk Neal Tan sa mga indie film makers na mas bata at baguhan keysa sa kanya. He is now resting on his laurels, being one of the pioneers of indie filmaking in the country.

"What I do now, I simply inspire the new breed of film makers", sabi pa ni direk Neal Tan sa pagtatapos ng isang simpleng kuwentuhan habang nanonood kasama ang isang blogger sa rushes ng pelikula niya. 

"Minsan, nagtuturo din ako sa kanila, nagga-guide, nagbibigay ng workshops on film directing. karamihan din sa kanila, humihingi ng mga payo sa akin. Mas nalilibang na ako gayon kasi sa bago kong hobby na Painting, eh. Pero kung may maganda pa ring offer na magdirek sa pelikula, why not? Pero hindi na talaga ako nagko-compete."

ISANG REBYU SA ADVOCACY FILM NA "LUKAS": DAPAT NOON PA NAPANSIN ANG KAGALINGAN NI AVID RAZUL SA PAGGANAP...

LUKAS AVID: A GREAT ACTING PORTRAYAL IN THE ADVOCACY FILM ENTITLED "LUKAS"

Ang bawat tao ay may likas na kabaitan. Ang bawat nilalang ay may misyon sa buhay na dapat maisakatuparan. Ang bawat buhay, oo, ito ay may ganap na katuturan.

Gaano man siya kababa, kaliit, ka-walang-saysay- huwag mo siyang huhusgahan- dahil hindi mo kailanman alam kung ano ang tunay niyang pinagmulan. At hindi mo rin kailanman mararating ang mga narating na niya.

Mula sa isang mababa at simpleng pamumuhay, nakilala namin ang karakter na LUKAS sa pelikulang "LUKAS", isang advocacy film na mula sa Magic Five Productions at pinagbibidahan ng aktor na si Avid Razul. 

Isang malaking sorpresa para sa amin ang kagalingang ipinamalas ni Avid sa kabuuuan ng pelikula. Hindi namin inaasahan na ganu'n pala siya kagaling at ka-organisado't epektibo bilang isang aktor. Dahil mapapansin mo, sa kabuuan ng pelikula, halos si Avid talaga ang nagdala at lumutang ng husto. Nagawa niyang dalhin ang iba pang mga karakter sa pelikula sa isang epektibong pamamaraan. Bibihira lang ang mga ganitong klase ng aktor na aming nasaksihan- samantalang ang isang ito ay hindi pa matatawag na "mainstream actor", pero nagawa niyang ipakita ang kaganapan at tunay na kagalingan bilang isang aktor.

Noon pa naghahanap ang yumaong si direk Maryo J. delos Reyes ng isang aktor na mula sa kuwadra niya na masasabi niyang magbibigay sa kanya ng ganap na karangalan at papuri. Maaaring nagawa man ni direk Maryo J. iyon kina Yul Servo at sa yumaong si Daniel Figueroa (mga aktor na sa kanyang kuwadra mismo nanggaling at siya mismo ang nagturo sa mga ito upang umarte ng buong husay), pero para sa amin, kulang na kulang pa rin ang nagawa nina Yul at Daniel. Hindi alam ng yumaong si direk Maryo J., mayro'n pa pala siyang nakaligtaan- at ito ay walang iba kundi si Avid Razul.

Sayang, sana nuon pa natuklasan ni direk Maryo J. ang kagalingan ni Avid, nuon pa sanang buhay pa si direk Maryo J. at hindi ngayong patay na siya. Sabi nga ng beteranong manunulat na si Pete Ampoloquio, Jr. kay Avid: "You are so fantastically good in the film, Avid!" Sapat na iyon para maniwala rin si Avid sa mga papuring inihagis namin sa kanya nu'ng mapanood na namin ang kabuuan ng pelikulang LUKAS.

Ito ang pelikulang dapat talagang mapanood ng bawat kabataan dahil napakalalim ng mensahe sa pamilya at sa buhay. Napakaganda ng istorya ng pelikula at hindi namin gugustuhing mai-reveal agad sa publiko ang istorya dahil mawawala ang "suspense-factor" at mape-pre-empt ang kagandahan ng pelikula.

Lahat ng mga artistang nagsiganap sa pelikula ay sadyang kay gagaling din, talagang hindi sila pumayag na lamun-lamunin ni Avid sa mga eksena. Ginalingan din nila dahil alam nilang magaling na aktor ang bida sa pelikula- na si Avid Razul nga. Pero dapat din naming papurihan sina Jao Mapa, Ms. Channel La Torre, Rez Cortez, Soliman Cruz, Cloyd Robinson, Janice Jurado, Joe Gruta at ang aktor na si Raul S. Radam dahil maski ang iba sa kanila ay maiikli lang ang papel, tunay namang mabibigat at matitindi ang pagka-"meaty" ng mga karakter na ginampananan nila.

Kung ganito ba palagi ang mga pelikulang mapapanood ng bawat mag-aaral, at hindi 'yung mga klase ng pelikula na basta nagpapa-"cute" lang para makuha ang mga hiyaw at tili ng mga estudyante- nakupo, mas gugustuhin na namin ang pelikulang LUKAS ang mapanood nila dahil wala itong halong pandaraya. Ang ipinakita sa pelikula ay buhay ng isang kabataang nagsikap, nagmahal, nagmalasakit sa kapwa, at sa bandang huli, nang malaman niya ang tunay niyang katauhan ay hindi pa rin siya naging makasarili. Patuloy pa rin siyang tumulong sa kapwa-tao niya.

Isang napakagandang pelikula at nagampanan ng buong husay ng mga artista.

BACK HOME, WITH KIEL ALO (a review to his concert "Back Home" at Music Box last December 18)....

It was definitely the most beautiful concert that I had seen in the year 2020. Although the venue was just a simple sing-along bar (but we've seen other more concerts in Solaire, Resorts World, New Frontier theater, and others) named Music Box, it wasn't the venue, indeed, but the very soul of the concert, the rhythm the flowed along, and the male lead singer that simply lingered-on in our minds.

"This concert you directed, Jobert, is the most beautiful one I had seen", we whispered to Mr. Jobert Sucaldito, the one who directed this Back Home concert of Aliw Awardee Marc Kiel Alo. "And Kiel is so so good. I won't ever forget this concert."

Via the concert Back Home, we now realized that a good concert is undeniably a good one even if it is staged in a lesser venue. It doesn't really matter. What matters is the good repertoire of songs (kudos to Mr. Butch Miraflor, the Musical Director of this concert) and the singers of songs who all participated in this concert- and most of all- Mr. Marc Kiel Alo, the one who holds this great concert.

Kiel was effortlessly good, suave, soulful and charming as he delivered the songs. After having a good training in the Theater world (thanks to director Frannie Zamora, the one who trained Kiel in good posture while singing songs in the much-acclaimed play "Kanser" of Gantimpala Theater Foundation),  Kiel looked so unbelievably confident onstage, an act and impression which is common among theater performers. And when Kiel mixed his moves with charismatic manners, the more he looked and sounded so elegant, especially when he sang his opening song number "Call Me".

As the other young male singers, the likes of Carlo Mendoza, L.A. Santos, and Kyle Matthew appeared onstage, there was this great wonderful feeling of seeing new and fresh promising singers out to conquer your hearts. As they bonded together on stage singing songs like "Ang Huling El Bimbo", "Kisapmata", "O, Pare Ko", and the likes, the real message of the concert was felt: That, it's time now for more good-looking singers and male ones at that, to conquer the Music Industry.

The appearances of gay comedians-singers on stage was a super hit. Mr. Sucaldito simply knew how to delight his audience. It was like a bomb exploding when one gay impersonator fascinated everyone singing a song whose lyrics he changed into a 'Nissin crackers melody' kind of song and passed-along up the air packets of Nissin Ramen crackers to the audience.

Surely, this kind of a concert was something we will never forget. And it further guaranteed, Mr. Marc Kiel Alo has arrived and could now be leveled-up to the statuses of other singers like Michael Pangilinan, Jed Madela and Christian Bautista. He now surely belongs to that category.

Bravo! BACK HOME with Kiel Alo concert was surely the best.

As in FOREVER.

T.E.A.M. (THE ENTERTAINMENT ARTS MEDIA) GEARS-UP FOR AN ENCORE PARTY ON JANUARY 2020

After a very succesful Christmas Party last December 15 at Music 21 KTV Plaza in Timog Avenue, the TEAM (The Entertainment Arts Media) press group is now gearing-up for an encore party this coming January 2020.

"There will be rounds of raffle prizes again, gifts, tokens, special guests and wonderful food and drinks", a TEAM member said. "Last Christmas party kasi natin sa TEAM, hindi nakahabol ang ilan pang mga celebrities na nag-donate ng gifts and cash tokens. Like Nino Muhlach and other more popular stars and celebrities. Marami pa palang na-solicit ang mga TEAM members na sina Obette Serrano, Pilar Mateo, Roland Lerum, Maridol Ranoa-Bismark and of course, our TEAM moving force na si Nonie Nicasio! Plus the rest pa.

"Kaya this January, we are gearing-up na for an encore party!", one TEAM member continued to say. "Bitin kasi ang karamihan sa TEAM members, plus the fact na kailangan pa ring ma-distribute ang iba pang gifts and cash. At bale pa, may belated birthday party treat si Anne Venancio para sa co-TEAM members niya. Oh, my. Simply great!"

TEAM members are composed of the following: NONIE NICASIO, PILAR MATEO, MARIDOL RANOA-BISMARK, ROLAND LERUM, OBETTE SERRANO, ROBERT SILVERIO, BOY BORJA, CESAR IAN BATINGAL, ATHENS YAP,  ALEX DATU, RONA AVECILLA, JHAY ORENCIA, ANNE VENANCIO, ALLAN SANCON, THROY CATAN, MARIALUZ CANDABA AND MS. NENE RIEGO. 

Last December 15, all TEAM members got a chance to win in five rounds of raffle prizes. One of the most cherished prizes was the Slimmer's World 30k worth of gift certificates, as donated by Mr. Christian Ty and his mom Normita Ty.

On Robert Silverio's (a TEAM member) account, he would like to thank these celebrities who generously replied and responded on TEAM's solicitation letter. They are: Mr. Derek Dee, Christian Ty and Normita Ty, Jose Jeffrey Camanag, Rosie Cruz (mom of singer Carlo Mendoza), Frannie Zamora, Lukas Avid, Carlito Mallilin and Cris Nicolas of Club Mwah and Mr. Rommel Luna.

Among the most-valued guests of the TEAM at their last Christmas party were Janah Zaplan and his dad Mr. Zaplan, director Romm Burlat, Mojak, Nash Tillah, Allona Amor, Ms. Liz Alindogan and many more.

Almost 200k thousand of cash was solicited by the TEAM this year, plus lots of baskets and bags of beauty products, imported goods and other product items.

"Maski mas maliit na lang ang makukuha ng mga TEAM members sa encore party natin this January, bongga pa ring masasabi ito" one TEAM member who doesn't want to be named, revealed in the end. "At least, tayo ay may encore party pa. Not bad, isn't it? Magsaya ule tayong lahat this 2020!!!"

TEAM MEMBERS would like to thank the very good and inspiring leadership of Mr. Nonie Nicasio. Without his positive attitude, his patience and understanding and good qualities of a moving force behind the TEAM, their Christmas party won't be that successful.
