THE YOUNG MILLENIALS AS WINNERS (PHOTO BY MARS BILLONES) |
If Ms. Racquel Villavicencio could have appeared on stage right on time, without any 'attitude' and girlish whims, the 2nd TOFARM FILM FESTIVAL Awarding Ceremonies could have been a perfect presentation, minus one "flaw"- and that is, Ms. Racquel.
Director Maryo J. delos Reyes had to save that spot- wherein he and Dr. Milagros How were presenting some placques to the jurors and the six young film directors whose films where shown and contested among each other.
Ms. Racquel didn't show-up at once when her name was called, and it became a chain reaction to the rest of the people- all in line at the backstage, and all waiting, too, to be called by the good emcees on stage.
What saved the night was the gracious effort of director de los Reyes to move back and forth as he carried the placques, mobilizing everyone to come out and break the chain of "wrongs".
Without the nice gestures, too, of the emcees- in persons of Ms. Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez until the end of the awarding night, mixed with musical numbers, speeches and other presentations- yes, the 2nd Tofarm Film Festival awarding ceremonies- could have been an ordinary one.
And the perfect choices of winners alongside, also saved the night,- with great excitements, "heart attacks" of wild imaginings, great sound, great music, and lively "fast-paced" proceedings of the program- this awarding rites was indeed something to remember forever. Excellently done.
"Right from the start, I will always remember my family", Ms. Tara Illenberger, director of the movie High Tide, said as she received the trophy for Best Picture award- the major award for this year's fest- with half a million cash prize.
"I am as almost as happy as a winner getting the People's Choice Award", director Jason Paul Laxamana, on the other hand, said as he received the trophy for his film Instalado. "It only means that I was able to reach more to the people."
There were no heavy dramas on stage, only relaxed and composed winners. But seeing all those young film makers, artists and actors, winning the majority of the awards were something one could have not imagined.
The 2017 TOFARM FIL FESTIVAL only further attested that Young Millenials are now indeed on the battle front.
